Dobson signs extension with Islanders

(New York, NY) -- The New York Islanders have signed restricted free agent defenseman Noah Dobson (Summerside, PEI) to a three-year contract extension.

The deal has an average annual value of $4 million per season and runs through the 2024-25 campaign.


The 22-year old blueliner had a breakout 2021-22 season recording 51 points (13-38-51); good for third overall on the veteran-laden Islanders.


Dobson was selected in the first round (12th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Islanders from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.


The 6-4, 195 lb. defenseman was a two-time Memorial Cup champion during his junior career. He won the CHL championship 2018 with the Titan and 2019 with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.


Dobson has played 160 regular season and 20 playoff games with the Islanders over his first three NHL campaigns. He has 17 goals and 55 assists for 72 points in the regular season and 7 assists in 20 playoff contests.


Noah played his minor hockey for the Summerside Capitals (PEI) as well Bishop's College School and the Red Bull Academy in Austria.

He was the 1st round selection (6th overall) in the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft by Acadie-Bathurst.
