Four M&T Clients selected in 2020 NHL Entry Draft



(Guelph, ON) -- Four Maloney & Thompson clients were selected in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft yesterday.


LW J.J. Peterka (Munich, Germany), G Jesper Vikman (Stockholm, Sweden), G Will Cranley (Keene, ON) and LC Elliott Ekmark (Linkoping, Sweden) were selected during the two day process.


Peterka, 18, was chosen in the 2nd round (34th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres after playing this past season with EHC Munchen of the DEL.  The 5.11, 192 lb. left winger scored 7 goals and 4 assists in 42 games as a junior-aged player.  He will suit up for the London Knights of the OHL when play resumes this season.


Vikman, 18, was chosen by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 5th round (125th overall) after spending last season with AIK J20 in Sweden.  In 20 games he sported a 3.06 GAA and a .902 save percentage.  He’s currently playing with AIK in the Swedish J20 league.


Cranley, 18, was claimed by the St. Louis Blues with the 163rd pick in the 6th round.  The 6.04, 185 lb. goaltender sported a 2.81 goals against average and an 18-2-0 record with the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s last year.


Ekmark, 18, was selected in the 7th round (198th overall) by the Florida Panthers after a solid season with Linkoping HC J20 in Sweden.  The 5.09, 159 lb. centreman recorded 12 goals and 14 assists in 31 games last season.  He is currently playing with the same Linkoping club for the 2020-21 season.
