Islanders sign Matthew Maggio to Entry Level Contract

(Floral Park, NY) -- The New York Islanders have signed right winger Matthew Maggio (Tecumseh, On) of the Windsor Spitfires to an Entry Level Contract contract.

With a league-leading 54 goals and 57 assists for 111 points, Maggio captured the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy for the OHL’s Top Scorer Award and the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy as the league's top-scoring right winger.


"We are happy to have Matthew join the Islanders' organization," said General Manager Lou Lamoriello, "he has had an outstanding season and we look forward to having him join the Bridgeport Sound Tigers."


Matthew was originally at 5th round selection of the OHL's Ottawa 67's in 2018 out of the Sun County Panthers program where he scored 20 goals and 24 assists in 33 games.


He graduates the OHL with 99 goals and 118 assists for 217 points in 212 regular season games. Maggio also scored 8 goals and 11 assists in 29 playoff games over the course of his four-year junior career.
