Matthew Maggio takes home four OHL Awards

(Toronto, ON) -- Windsor Spitfires forward Matthew Maggio (Tecumseh, ON) took home four major OHL Awards for his outstanding 2022-23 campaign.



The 6-1", 185 lbs. winger was awarded the OHL's Most Outstanding Player (Red Tilson Award), OHL Top Scorer (Eddie Powers Award), OHL Overage Player (Leo Lalonde Award) and the Top Scoring right winger (Jim Mahon Award) awards at a ceremony at the Hockey Hall of Fame.


His four awards ties the all-time OHL single season high set previously by Jason Akeson (2010-11), Corey Perry (2004-05) and Dave Simpson (1981-82).


Maggio scored 54 goals and added 57 assists for 111 points in 66 games this past season and recently signed an entry-lkevel contract with the New York Islanders.


The Islanders selected Matthew with their 5th round selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.


Maggio concludes a 4-season OHL career tallying 99 goals and 118 points in 212 regular season games between time with the Ottawa 67's and Spitfires.


He was originally selected in the 5th round by Ottawa in 2018 OHL Priority Selection out of the Sun County Panthers.
