Seven clients selected at 2023 NHL Entry Draft

(Nashville, TN) -- Seven M&T clients heard their names called at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft held in Nashville this week.



Defenseman David Reinbacher (Hohenems, Austria) led the way when he was selected in the 1st round, 5th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens.


The 6-2, 185 lbs. defenseman is coming off a very strong season with Kloten of the Swiss Men's pro team in the Swiss-A league.


Reinbacher had 3 goals and 19 assists in 46 regular season games this year. He also represented his native Austria at the 2023 World Junior Championships this past winter.


Forward Easton Cowan (Mount Brydges, ON) was selected in the 1st round (28th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs.


The 5.11, 170 lbs. forward had a solid season with the London Knights of the OHL recording 20 goals and 33 assists in 53 games. He had a strong playoff with 9 goals and 12 assists in 20 games to lead the Knight to the OHL Championship series.


With pick 42nd pick in the 2nd round, defenseman Andrew Gibson (Lasalle, ON) was chosen by the Detroit Red Wings.


The 6.03, 196 lbs. blueliner played 45 games with the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL. He had 7 goals and 14 assists during the regular season.


In the 4th rd, with the 122nd pick, the New Jersey Devils selected forward Cam Squires (Charlottetown, PEI)


Squires, a 6.00, 165lbs. right winger had 30 goals and 34 assists in 64 games with the QMJHL Cape Breton Eagles.


In the 4th round, the Florida Panthers selected defenseman Albert Wikman (Farjestad, Sweden) of the Farjestads Jr. club.


The 6.01, 191 lbs. blueliner had 2 goals and 10 assists in 43 games.


London, Ontario native Dylan Roobroeck heard his name called in the 6th round (178th overall) by the New York Rangers.


The 6.07, 205 lbs. forward scored 15 goals and added 38 assists in 68 regular season game with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. He was selected in his second year of draft eligibility.


Chicoutimi Sagueneens defenseman Matteo Mann (Sackville, NS) was taken in the 7th round (199th overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers.


Mann had 5 assists this past season in 45 QMJHL regular season games.
