Sharks sign Magnus Chrona to Entry Level Contract

(San Jose, CA) -- The San Jose Sharks have signed goaltender Magnus Chrona (Nacka, Sweden) of the University of Denver Pioneers to a two-year NHL Entry Level Contract contract.

The 6.04, 209 lbs. goaltender appeared in 32 games this past season with a 2.19 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. He also went 22-9-0 and recorded 4 shutouts.


"Magnus has had an impressive and productive college career with the University of Denver, highlighted by a National Championship in 2022," said Sharks GM Grier. "He brings size and athleticism to the crease, along with a strong compete level. We are happy to have him and excited to watch his game develop."


Chrona was originally a 5th round choice of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft from the Nacka HK J18 program in Sweden.


The Sharks acquired his rights from the Lightning in April 2021 in exchange for veteran defenseman Fredrik Claesson.


Magnus helped the Pioneers win the 2022 NCAA national title and was named to the all-tournament team for his performances in the championship tournament. He graduates the NCAA with 114 total games played and a record of 73-34-5 with a .917 save percentage over four seasons. He also recorded 13 shut outs.


Magnus will join the Sharks' American Hockey League affiliate San Jose Barracuda this week.
