Slavik to represent Slovakia at World Junior A Challenge

(Guelph, ON) -- Draft eligible Guelph Storm goaltender Damian Slavik has been named to Slovakia’s roster for the World Junior A Challenge that gets underway on Sunday, December 10th in Truro, Nova Scotia.



Selected by the Storm with their second round (94th overall) pick of the 2023 CHL Import Draft, the 18-year-old Slavik is 4-2 this season with a 2.09 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.


The 6-foot-4, 185Ib. netminder was on Slovakia’s roster for the 2023 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship, and also represented the country at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer.


The World Junior A Challenge consists of five teams, with Canada East, Canada West, Sweden and the United States also icing squads alongside Slovakia.
