(Guelph, ON) -- Twenty-six year old left winger Liam O'Brien (Halifax, NS) has signed a contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
The 6-1, 214 lbs forward is in his eighth pro season with the Colorado Eagles. He has played 17 NHL games with the Washington Capitals and 384 games with their AHL affiliate Hershey Bears.
O'Brien grew up in Nova Scotia before playing Midget hockey with the Notre Dame Hounds before embarking on a four-year career in the QMJHL with Rimouski Oceanic and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
He signed as a free agent with the Capitals in 2014 to begin his eight-year professional career.
