O'Brien signs two year extension with Coyotes

(Phoenix, AZ) – The Arizona Coyotes have extended left winger Liam O’Brien (Bedford, NS) for two years through the 2023-24 season.



The 6-1, 215 lbs. product of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has 2 goals and 1 assist with 106 penalty minutes in 37 games with the Coyotes to date this season. O’Brien currently leads the NHL in fighting majors with 10.


O’Brien grew up playing minor hockey in the Bedford, Nova Scotia area before heading west to the Notre Dame Hounds U18 program in 2009-10. He was 1st round pick (10th overall) by the Rimouski Oceanic in 2010.


After four seasons with Rimouski and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, O’Brien signed a free agent entry level contract with the Washington Capitals in 2014.
