Chrona records first NHL win for Sharks

(San Jose, CA) -- Magnus Chrona (Taby, SWE) made 31 saves for his first NHL win for the Sharks (16-40-7) over the visiting Ottawa Senators on March 9th.

"Just joy, something I dreamt of my entire life," Chrona said of getting his first win. "It was close in Dallas (a 3-2 shootout loss on March 2), and kind of came into the same situation this time with a 2-1 lead coming into the third. I think the guys played great in front of me."

Chrona, 23, was called up by the Sharks from their AHL affiliate the San Jose Barracuda the day prior.

He is in his first professional season after a prestigious four-year career at the University of Denver which culminated in an NCAA Championship in 2022.

The 6'4", 194 lb. goalie was originally selected in the 5th round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He grew up playing in the AIK and Nacka programs in Sweden.
