Kitchener Rangers sign Evan Headrick

(Guelph, ON) -- The Kitchener Rangers announced today that forward Evan Headrick (Garden River, ON), the Rangers’ first round pick (15th overall) in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, has committed to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the club.

“We are excited to welcome Evan and his family to the Rangers,” said General Manager Mike McKenzie. “We feel his character, work ethic, speed, hockey sense, and skill will give him a chance to be a special player here.”

Following in his brother’s footsteps, Evan knew the OHL was going to be his path. His brother Owen Headrick won an OHL Championship with the Erie Otters in 2017. Evan moved away from home at the age of 13 from his small town in Garden River, ON just outside of Sault Ste. Marie to further his hockey career in the GTA with the Oakville Rangers.

“Ever since I’ve been young, I’ve dreamed of this moment,” said the Evan. “Especially since watching my older brother do it, I’ve been visualizing myself signing and now that it’s happened it’s been a dream come true.”

The 5’7.5”, 150-pound forward impressively led his team to win the 2024 OHL Cup as the leading scorer with six goals and five assists in seven games. Throughout the regular season, Headrick played at a 1.5 points per game rate putting up 21 goals and 49 points in only 31 games. Headrick will wear number 81 for the Rangers.
